A Captive Thought Life

What you think is not always your desired thought. What should you do when that happens? Take that thought captive. 

Uncaptured thoughts will be the death of us. What you think only becomes problematic when you dwell on the thought and consider acting on the idea. A momentary lustful thought dwelled on for even a couple seconds can grow into a porn addiction. A fleeting look at someone who is not your spouse can morph into an affair that could tear your marriage apart. 

The key to avoiding these life altering dangers is to take these thoughts captive and destroy them in the name of Jesus. It’s as simple as saying, “That’s not my thought,” then casting it out of your mind. 

You may wonder what you do when the thought comes back. The answer is simple, cast it out again. “Well how many times must I cast it out, Gregg?” As many times as it takes for it to be gone forever. 

The most important thing is to NEVER entertain the thought. NEVER receive it as your own. That would be your tragedy. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
