This passage is one you should hide in your heart. It is a wonderful reminder of the love and sovereignty of God.
What are you going through? Let these words remind you that our God is on the throne and nothing is too great for Him. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 103:8-12 8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. I love how Psalm 102 begins. I sense the Psalmist familiarity with God. It is a prayer to a familiar God, not an unknown one. There is a faith connected to his words. He fully expects God to answer his prayer.
Do you pray with this same level of confidence? If not, why? I encourage you to seek God first in all you do. As you seek Him in earnest, you will grow closer to Him. As you grow closer to Him, your prayer life will improve. For me, my prayer life is not about God answering my prayers how and when I want them answered. It is about me taking my partitions to Him and trusting that whatever He does is best. And for that, I rejoice! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 102:1-2 1 Hear my prayer, Lord; let my cry for help come to you. 2 Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. Today’s Reading: Psalm 102 This is a simple reminder. How you live matters. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 101:6-8 6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. 7 No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. 8 Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord. Today’s Reading: Psalm 101 Every word of Psalm 100 points us to a gracious and loving God. I encourage you to take in this short Psalm and allow the words to remind you of the love and grace of our Father. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 100:5 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Today’s Reading: Psalm 100 Psalm 99 starts and finishes strong. It is a reminder of who God is. Do you ever forget how great our God is?
Spend time meditating on this Psalm. Notice God’s patience and love for us. Israel was disobedient, yet God remained faithful. As you seek God, it is possible that you will falter along the way. Take courage knowing that, just like He restored Israel when they came to their senses, He will restore you when you come to yours. So, what are you waiting for?! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 99:1-3; 9 1 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. 2 Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. 3 Let them praise your great and awesome name—he is holy. 9 Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. Today’s Reading: Psalm 99 There is hope in this passage. God’s salvation is known throughout the world. Our “job” is to continue to make it known.
The purpose of man is to live for God. To bring honor to His name. This is done by sharing Him wherever we go. We share Him in our actions. We share Him with our words. Both are necessary. To whom is God calling you to share Him with? Go in obedience and share Him. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 98:1-3 1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. 2 The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. 3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Today’s Reading: Psalm 97-98 It makes me sad when I see people mocking God by trivializing Him. Paul writes in the book of Galatians that “God is not mocked. A man reaps what He sows.” In Psalm 95, we read about the result of God’s anger towards the Israelites.
Think about this, with the exception of Joshua and Caleb, no Israelite over the age of 20, entered the Promise Land because they did not believe they could enter the land after hearing the negative report given by ten of the twelve spies. Your faith is not a play thing. Reducing God to what you want Him to be is going to backfire. God is in firm control. We have no say in that matter. Live your life to honor Him. Live your life to honor Him!! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 95:10-11 10 For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’ 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’” Today’s Reading: Psalm 95-96 Psalm 94 is worth a slow read. I love how the Psalmist makes plain the reality of God. It is He who is all knowing. What we think we know is useless compared to what God knows.
Do you seek God, always? Do you allow God to show you areas in your life that do not glorify Him? If you do, when He shows you, do you change? Seeking God is more than reading your Bible daily, praying daily, and surrounding yourself with mature Christians. It’s making the changes in your life to be drawn into the closest, intimate relationship possible with Jesus Christ. That requires you to receive God’s discipline. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 94:8-11 8 Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise? 9 Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? 10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge? 11 The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile. Today’s Reading: Psalm 94 I had a conversation with a student yesterday. He failed the first quarter in my class, which is not easy to do, if you put forth any effort. In the conversation I told him that he may not fully understand the importance of putting forth effort, but, at my advanced age, I could assure him that effort leads to a better life.
Then I read this passage this morning. How wonderful is our God to allow me to have that conversation yesterday, then remind me today that no matter how old we get, we can still be fruit bearers. Oh, did I mention that Monday’s podcast episode is titled, “Are You Producing Good Fruit?” https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-agape-leaders-podcast/id1586388308?i=1000674051946 I love when God sends subtle reminders that He’s in charge. It encourages me to continue my walk with Him in confidence. Be reminded that no matter your age or life’s stage, in Christ, you can still bear good fruit. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 92:12-15 12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” Today’s Reading: Psalm 92-93 When I read this passage this morning, it hit different. Think about it. How often do we blast through our days going from thing to thing as if we have all the time in the world to do what we must do for God? That’s a mistake I make more than I care to admit.
The Psalmists asks God to teach us to number our days. I take that as saying, “teach us to realize that we do not have much time, so give us the discipline to focus only on You and what You deem important.” See what I mean by “it hit different?” Ask God to give you a laser focus on Him. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 90:12 12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Today’s Reading: Psalm 90 & 91 From time to time, we must be reminded who God is. This passage from Isaiah is one that we must heed and live our lives by. It is so easy to forget just how great our God is because we frequently look to man for our vision of God.
No person is a good representation of who God is. (Read that again) Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Isaiah 55:8-11 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Today’s Reading: Psalm 89:38-52 God is faithful! When God makes a promise to you, He keeps it. When He promises to reward your faithfulness (Hebrews 11:6), He will. And when He promises to reward your wickedness (Psalm 89:30-34), He will.
They key to right living before God is obeying His commands found in His word (John 14:21). If you are not seeking God daily by reading the Bible, praying, and seeking Godly counsel from mature Christians, you are in danger of not living right before God. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 89:30-34 30 “If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes, 31 if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands, 32 I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging; 33 but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness. 34 I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered. Today’s Reading: Psalm 89:14-37 Imagine your life if you grasped this passage and lived it out. When you understand that everything belongs to God, it will change your perspective on problems, victories, and will relieve much stress in your life. Allow these words to guide you as you live your life. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 89:11 11 The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it. Today’s Reading: Psalm 89:1-13 I love how this Psalm begins. We can keep these words on our lips as a reminder of who we are serving. God is our Savior. As you consider why you need salvation, I pray you will be awestruck by the reality that the One against whom you have sinned is the One who has taken your sin away and put it upon Himself.
Therefore, you can say, “You are the God who saves me!” Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 88:1-2 1 Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you. 2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. Today’s Reading: Psalm 88 Loving God is easy when you spend time with Him daily and put away your selfish desires. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 87:1-2 1 He has founded his city on the holy mountain. 2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. Today’s Reading: Psalm 87 Take a moment and pray this passage over your life. Think about all that is happening and has happened. Allow the love of God to show its presence in your life. When difficult times come, it is easy to focus on them and lose our focus on the One that matters.
When we pray like this, we are drawn back to God’s side. That’s where we always need to be. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 86:11-13 11 Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. Today’s Reading: Psalm 86 To me, there is nothing more important than doing the right thing in the eyes of God. As a flawed human, I fall short far too often. But something I am grateful for is I know God considers our heart’s intent over our actions.
David’s sin was intentional, yet when he was confronted, he immediately, repented. He realized he had not pursued righteousness. God forgave him. How is your heart posture? What is your response to your shortcomings? I encourage you to take time to notice your decisions and the root of your desires. When they are not in line with what God wants for you, change them. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 85:12-13 12 The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. 13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps. Today’s Reading: Psalm 85 Years ago, I loved listening to and singing a song titled “Better Is One Day.” That song is Psalm 84. As I read it, I was reminded of that song. Consider the lyric that says “my heart and soul cry out for You the living God.” Do you ever stop to consider what that means?
God is alive. He is not a piece of wood or a man-made statue that cannot move without the power of an outside source. Live your life like you truly believe that better is one day in God’s house than a thousand elsewhere! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 84:1 & 10-11 1 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Today’s Reading: Psalm 84 As you read Psalm 83, take note that the Psalmist is asking God to “deal” with those who have spoken against Him and threatened His people. This is a bold song. When we pray in this manner, humility must guide us. We should not pray this type of prayer with vengeance in our heart.
What stronghold in your life do you want God to pull down? Go before Him and ask Him to tear it down. Then be patient while He works. It is likely to take a while and require much faith on your part. But, like the Psalmist knows, God will prevail. He always does. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 83:1-4 1 O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. 2 See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. 3 With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. 4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.” Today’s Reading: Psalm 83 Do you sometimes forget the Sovereignty and Authority of God? Consider these two verses from Psalm 82. Notice the clarity of them. There is no ambiguity. God is the Judge of all. We must praise Him for not judging us for the sin we have committed. Instead, He came to earth in the flesh to take on our sin so we can be forgiven and have a right relationship with Him. Let that sink in. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 82:1 & 8 1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods”: 8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance. Today’s Reading: Psalm 82 |
