These two passages serve as a reminder that God is faithful. He will redeem you if you will let Him. This means releasing anything that keeps you from living full on for God.
He is more than able to forgive you and put you on the right path. Step one, believe that you deserve His forgiveness. If you cannot complete that step, the enemy has a chance to keep you distracted from God. That is not a place you want to be. Let the words of Psalm 130 be your encouragement to give God your hurt, your anguish, and anything that hinders you from a right relationship with Him. He’s calling. Please answer. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 130:3-4 & 7-8 3 If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. 7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins. Let this passage be a reminder that difficult times will come to all of us. The key is to allow God to be your comfort. When people seek to do wrong to you, brush it off. Wait on God to do what He is going to do. We do not know how long the night will last, but we have been assured that joy is coming in the morning. Hold on to that promise. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 129:1-2 1 “They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,” let Israel say; 2 “they have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me.” Today’s Reading: Psalm 129 Proverbs 9:10 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This passage in Psalm 128 seems to be a reminder of the benefits of having a fear of the Lord.
This fear is not like being afraid of something that may harm you. It is that respectful fear that you may have of disappointing a parent, a coach, or a teacher. Do you love God in such a way that your respect for Him leads you to obedience to Him? This is what God wants more than sacrifice. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 128:1 1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. Today’s Reading: Psalm 128 Psalm 127:1 is a reminder to put God first in everything we do. Without God, nothing we do will end well.
One of the primary tricks of the enemy is to convince you that you do not need God. Notice his conversation with Eve. He assures her, “You will not surely die.” He leads her to believe that she can make her own decisions apart from God’s guidance. And Adam was with her, so he is not absolved from equal responsibility. Whatever you want to do, before you do it, ask God for guidance. This will ensure you have a chance to make the right decision. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 127:1 1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. Today’s Reading: Psalm 127 I encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day and allow the words to this song to encourage you back to Christ, especially if you’ve found yourself away from Him.
Please know that whenever you feel out of God’s presence, it is NEVER Him who has moved. It’s ALWAYS us. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 126:4 4 Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. Today’s Reading: Psalm 126 During one of my times living in South Korea, I learned a song called Not Be Shaken. The bottom line message of the song is no matter what comes my way, in Jesus Christ “I will not be moved. I will not be shaken.”
How is your faith? Does it ebb and flow like the wind and the waves? Or do you have an unshakeable faith that stands strong against the “elements of life” like a mountain? Let the word of this passage be your reminder that if you put your trust in God, He will inspire in you a faith that cannot be moved, “(it) will not be shaken.” Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 125:1 1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Today’s Reading: Psalm 125 Please allow the words of Psalm 124 to bring you to a place of appreciation of what God is doing “behind the scenes” of your life. It is so easy to get caught up in the fast pace of life and take for granted His presence. That is why it is important to stop, I encourage daily, and spend time thanking Him for all He is doing in and through your life. When you thank Him, remember to be thankful for the things He does without your knowledge. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
Psalm 124:2-3 if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3 they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us. Today’s Reading: Psalm 124 I wonder what the thought process was for the person who invented the roller coaster. Were they thinking about the joy riders would have with the twists, turns, and speed changes? I’m not a huge fan of roller coasters, although I will ride some.
But what I do know is that life and roller coasters are similar in the twists, turns, and speed changes. The writer of Psalm 123 seems to understand this as well. It is one of fifteen songs of ascent the Israelites would sing as they made their way to Jerusalem for their three pilgrimage festivals. Although we do not participate in these festivals, we can relate to the words of the Psalmist because of our life experiences. As we ride the “roller coaster” of life, we can cling to the promises of God found in this Psalm and throughout the Bible. Here’s today’s Bible verse and reading. Enjoy. Psalm 123 1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven. 2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy. 3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt. 4 We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud. Reading this passage fills my heart! I love meeting with my brothers and sisters in Christ. If you do not have a body of believers with whom you gather, pray, and praise the Lord, I encourage you to find one. God created us for worshipping Him in relationship with Him and others. This is why you see so many people “worshipping” at the alter of their favorite celebrity, sports team, hobby, religion, and a host of other “not God” idols. We are wired to worship.
God’s creation is created perfectly. Man is the only part of creation that has the free will to choose “not God,” and we do so far too often. Please choose God. It’s not too late. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 122:1 1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Today’s Reading: Psalm 122 Imagine how strong your relationship with God would be if you lived these words out daily. Believing that God is your source should be manifested in all you do.
Knowing that your help comes from Him should inspire you to live fully for Him. Does it? Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 121:1-2 1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Today’s Reading: Psalm 121 This passage reminds me of the bridge in the song, “Trust In God.” The singer says, “I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered.”
For what are you calling on the Lord? Are you listening for His answer? Are you willing to respond to His wants? Or have you already decided what God’s answer must be and as a result, your expectation has tainted your view of God? Be mindful that God is sovereign. Our opinions are irrelevant. We must never find ourselves in a place where we believe what God has done is wrong. At that point we are no different than the people about whom the Psalmist is crying out to God. Walk with God with purpose. Focus on His word. He will answer your prayers, but it will always be His way, which is better by far. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalm 120:1 1 I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me. Today’s Reading: Psalm 120 |
