Authority And Power
In this chapter of Mark there is a “throw away line” that I want to bring to your attention. Jesus is walking and the crowds are pressing around Him. That means there were very many people present. After certain events happen, which are described through the chapter, Jesus goes to Jairus’ house to heal his daughter. When He heads that way, Mark writes that Jesus did not let anyone follow except Peter, James, and John. Let that marinate! There was a “large crowd” of people present, yet, when Jesus went to Jairus’ house He did not allow the vast majority of those people to follow Him. How did He do that? I believe His authority and power were on full display. However, it’s so subtle, you have to focus to catch it. Does Jesus have that authority and power over your life? When He tells you to do something do you do it? Following Christ is not designed to be difficult. Read the Word and live the way it says to live. The Holy Spirit will guide you. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Mark 5:37 37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. Today’s Readings: Mark 5:21-43; Proverbs 10:8-9
