Beware Of Distractions
With the many options available for us to occupy our time, becoming distracted from spending time with God is easy. Most people use our electronic devices to occupy our time, while others use our jobs and hobbies to keep us busy. Regardless of our chosen distraction, we are not doing what Jesus said is needed. We need to spend time sitting at the Lord’s feet. In this passage, Martha is distracted with things that seemingly “need” to be done. Her desire was noble. However, in that moment, she needed to take the opportunity to sit at the Lord’s feet and learn from Him. Fortunately, Jesus is a wise and faithful man. He took the opportunity to teach Martha in the midst of her distraction. What keeps you distracted from the one thing that is needed? Seek the Father today. Ask Him to show you areas in your life that keep you from doing the one thing that is needed. Then allow Him to replace the distractions for you. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Luke 10:38-40 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” Today’s Readings: Luke 10:38-11:13; Proverbs 12:15-17
