Difficult To Fathom
This passage is one that can give people a tough time. The idea of loving “something” more than they love their family is tough. For an explanation of why Jesus made this claim we need to look no further than the first of the Ten Commandments, “you shall have no other gods before me.” Why? Because God is a jealous God. If He doesn’t want you to worship anything before Him, He also doesn’t want you to put loved ones before Him. Yet Christians often do. This is an area that I encourage you to take time and sit with the Father in your quiet place. Ask Him to point out those areas of your life that you have placed above Him. Once He identifies them, immediately put them behind God. You will be glad you did. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Matthew 10:37-39 37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. Today’s Readings: Matthew 10:24-11:6; Proverbs 3:16-18
