Edict Of Love
One definition of an “Edict” is an official order or proclamation given by someone in authority. We see this played out in the book of Esther when Haman convinces the king to sign an edict giving permission to destroy the Jews. Of course God thwarts that through the lives of Esther and Mordecai. This passage gives us an “edict of love” from God. Love is not optional. We cannot say that we love God while at the same time saying that we hate our brother or sister. Love is complete. God so loved the world. He does not love this group but not that group. Therefore we should do no less. How can you show love today? Go do it! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 1 John 4:19-21 19 We love because he first loved us.20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command:Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. Today’s Reading: 1 John 4
