Your actions have consequences. God is a just God. When you sin, you will pay for it. Paul teaches us in the book of Romans that the wages of sin is death.
Your consequence for your sin, great or small, is death. Thanks be to God for the sacrifice of His Son on our behalf. However, be mindful that when you deliberately sin, you are drawing God’s wrath to your life. Notice the consequence of Eli’s sons in this passage. Why was it the Lord’s will to put them to death? Do not separate your actions from your consequences. How had Eli’s sons been behaving? What is the consequence for disobeying the word of God? Why was it God’s will, because it is His will that sin be punished! The wages of sin is death and He is a just God. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 1 Samuel 2:22-25 22 Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 23 So he said to them, “Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours. 24 No, my sons; the report I hear spreading among the Lord’s people is not good.25 If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death. Today’s Reading: 1 Samuel 2:12-26
