God’s Quiet Protection
As you read this chapter, notice how Mordecai has done nothing to draw attention to himself throughout this book. He helps his cousin, protects the king, and seeks help for the Jews. He has surrendered his life to God’s quiet protection. Far too often we try to protect ourselves. We believe that we are the ones who must do the “salvation” work in our lives. We make plans to do this or that “in the name of the Lord,” but the truth is, we are doing it for our own selfish desires. This is why Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of Heaven.” Being righteous in your own eyes does not make you righteous. In fact, it probably makes you unrighteous. And that’s not a good thing. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Esther 6:12-13 12 Afterward Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman rushed home, with his head covered in grief, 13 and told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. His advisers and his wife Zeresh said to him, “Since Mordecai, before whom your downfallhas started, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him—you will surely come to ruin!” Today’s Reading: Esther 6
