He Has Risen
On this Resurrection Sunday, many people will say to one another, “He is risen.” It is similar to the response the Angel gave to Mary Magdalene and the other women who went to complete the preparations at Jesus’ tomb. When they realized Jesus had risen, at once they carried the first gospel message to the disciples. This is important because if Jesus truly had not risen, the disciples would not have “used” women to share this Good News. Why? Because in that society, women were viewed as lesser than. Their word would not have held water. The precursor of Jesus using a woman to share the Good News is found in John 4 when Jesus talks with the Samaritan woman who then spreads the Good News to her town. Everyone came out to see Jesus for themselves, based on the testimony of a promiscuous woman. Let that marinate. God will use the least likely people to share His Good News. He does this because it requires us to have faith. The writer of Hebrews teaches us that “Without faith it is impossible to please God…” (Hebrews 11:6) As you see your friends and family at church today, let your heart for Christ impact them. Allow the Holy Spirit to use you to share the Good News. It is likely the only chance you will get this year. Don’t waste it. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Luke 24:4-8 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words. Today’s Reading: Hosea 8
