Heavenly Wisdom

When I was working on my Masters in Ministerial Leadership degree, I took a class called Methods of Biblical Preaching and Teaching. My classmates and I chose the book of James to do three types of preaching. I got chapter 3:1-12 as my section. I wish I would have gotten 13-18. The last two verses speak volumes about how we are to live as Christ followers. 

The writer implies that there are multiple types of wisdom. The wisdom that we must live by comes from heaven. He then provides a description of the fruit of such wisdom. 

Take time to do a life inventory. Ask the Holy Spirit to identify the type of wisdom you possess. If it is not heavenly wisdom, make that switch immediately. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 

James 3:17-18

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
