Insincerity
Today we commemorate the day Jesus went to the cross to be the redemptive sacrifice that gives us a way to enter a right relationship with God. This gift is one we do not deserve. We did nothing to earn it. Jesus freely gave His life for a people who are not worthy of such a gift. As I read this section of Luke, I’m struck that this person, who was well read in the scriptures, was so insincere. He was not seeking knowledge, he was seeking to trick Jesus. Unfortunately, that type of behavior still exists today. I meet people frequently who say with their lips how much they love God and how much He means to them, then I see that they bear no fruit. If you are living for Christ, you will bear fruit. As you remember what Jesus did for you on this Good Friday, be mindful that He gave His life for you AND He wants you to share that with others so the world may know! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Luke 10:25-29 25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Today’s Readings: Luke 10:13-37; Proverbs 12:12-14
