Mature In Christ
As I read this passage I thought, “grow up, already,” in a Bronx accent. I laughed a little, but then I realized that this is a problem in the American church today. Far too many “Christians” are still drinking milk. If you are a parent or know anything about children, you know the milk diet phase of life is not a filling phase. In that phase, hunger comes quickly. As a mature believer, a continued diet of “milk” is not filling at all. You need to be in your Word daily. You need to be seeking God in prayer daily. And you need to fellowship with mature Christians daily. Key to mature Christian fellowship is accountability. If you do not have people in your life who are willing to point out things in your life that don’t seem right, then you have the wrong friend group. And even worse, if your rationale for not having friends who hold you accountable is because you don’t want to get your feelings hurt, you’re in denial and that is dangerous. Spend some time in prayer today. Ask God to show you the people in your life who hold you accountable. Then text or call them and tell them thank you. Additionally, seek to become a friend who lovingly holds others accountable to the Word. It’s time to put away the milk diet and begin to live the life of a mature Christian. One who loves to be held accountable and wants to be held accountable. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? Today’s Reading: 1 Corinthians 3
