Mindset
An over simplified definition of the word mindset is “the way you think and do.” As it pertains to Jesus Christ, what is your mindset? It’s easy to fool others and even convince ourselves that we have a Christ-focused mindset when we don’t. But we can never fool God. He knows our inner most thoughts. He knows if we have our mind set on pursuing the desires of the flesh. Thus, it is important for us to take time daily to do an honest inventory of our Spiritual life. Are we seeking God or are we seeking the things of the flesh? Here’s a way to know for certain your true pursuit. Do you try to justify why you do what you do? When you’re doing things of the spirit, there’s no justification needed. However, when you’re filling your day with the pursuit of fleshly desires, you will need to justify your actions. You say/think things like, “God knows my heart,” “God will forgive me,” or “God loves me and wants me to be happy. These sound “spiritual” but they are all rationalizations for your disobedience. It’s true, God knows your heart, God will forgive you, and God wants you to be happy. But He does not want any of those things to be used as justification to sin. God wants you to be obedient. Remember that. If those other things happen to follow, great but they cannot be the reason why you behave how you behave. Live for God. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Romans 8:5-8 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
