My Favorite
As a high school teacher my students consistently ask me which class is my favorite. I usually give them a tangible answer. When it is not their class they ask several why questions. Of course, I like all my classes, so I do not have a true favorite. This mentality is a good one for all servants of Christ to have. We are warned in this passage not to show favoritism. Unfortunately, we do allow ourselves to have favorites. We have best friends whom we favor over others. This is not what James means when he talks about favoritism. As we serve others, we should not choose people we serve based on their status. We must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and serve those He places in our path and says, “serve them.” This takes on many forms. Take time throughout your day to slow down and listen to the Holy Spirit. Who should you serve? Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. James 2:1 My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Today’s Reading: James 2
