On The Basis Of Faith

Most people want to have a good image. We do things to our appearance, we seek formal education, and many other things designed to help us have a good reputation. 

In today’s chapter, Paul says all of that is garbage compared to knowing Christ. Do you feel that way? Are you holding on to ideas or past accomplishments because you think it gives you the right image? 

If your honest answer is yes, then heed Paul’s words in this chapter. Put the pursuit of Christ and knowing Him at the top of your priorities. In Christ, you will have a righteousness found in no other thing. You can only have this through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross for the forgiveness of your sin. 

Seeking to know God through any other avenue is pointless and will end in failure. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 

Philippians 3:7-9

7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
