Pay Up!
When someone owes you money, you might go to them and say, “Pay up!” This means you want them to give you what they owe you. In fact, if your job ever reneged on your salary, you would probably leave that job in search of another. When it comes to what we’re owed, we have no chill, “give me what I’m owed or else!!” Sin has that same attitude. When we sin, its wages are death. What is owed to sin is death. Your life must pay the cost of your sin. However, because of God’s love for us, while we owed our lives for the sin WE committed, Christ died to pay our sin debt. I cannot make it simpler than that. You owe your life to Christ. In some cultures, if you save someone’s life, you are their “savior,” and that person is forever in your debt. That’s how we must approach our Savior. He did for us what we could never do for ourselves. Thus, we must live lives that honor Him. When we do, people around us will be intrigued by our uncommon lives and want to know the reason for the hope we have in us. And that’s when you share your testimony! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Romans 6:21-23 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
