Pride Before Destruction
Proverb 16:18 is often quoted as “pride goes before a fall.” The actual proverb is, “pride goes before destruction…” This passage reminds me of that proverb. Notice Haman’s pride has blinded him. He boasts of his riches and is angry because one person will not bow to him or show him the respect he believes he deserves. As we continue to read this book, we will learn the fate of Haman. If you’re a “read ahead” type person, then reread Proverb 16:18 and you will be able to guess Haman’s fate. When we let pride lead our actions and decision making, we will meet a similar fate as Haman. Don’t let pride guide you. It leads to destruction not peace. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Esther 5:9-10 9 Haman went out that day happy and in high spirits. But when he saw Mordecai at the king’s gate and observed that he neither rose nor showed fear in his presence, he was filled with rage against Mordecai. 10 Nevertheless, Haman restrained himself and went home.
