Righteous Division
One of Jesus’ teachings is about a house divided against itself. He said that house cannot stand. In this teaching, He is not talking about a house divided. He is talking about a difference in the same beliefs. A simple example is two Christians who profess a faith in Christ but they have a true division on how to serve Christ and people. That cannot stand. That friendship will crumble and both will falter in their faith. As you read this passage, understand that Jesus is saying that members of your house will not follow Him. You probably know people who are believers but their family members are not. This is what Jesus is talking about in this passage. Do you love Jesus more than you love your family? He has told us to love Him more than we love anyone or anything else. It is only when we love Him most that we can love others well. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Luke 12:49-53 49 “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” Today’s Readings: Luke 12:35-59; Proverbs 12:24
