Who Is Righteous
This passage reminds me of Paul’s words, “there is none righteous, no not one.” If that’s true, then who can be righteous in accordance with David’s words in this Psalm. The answer is simple; anyone who is covered by the blood of Jesus Christ is made righteous in God’s sight. This can be difficult to grasp, especially in the United States. Here we have a skewed way of deciding who is righteous and who is not. Our freedoms confuse us. We think money and status make us righteous. That is almost as far from the truth as one could get. Our status does not make us righteous. Not even our kindness and willingness to help others makes us righteous in God’s eyes. As you consider whether you are righteous or not, allow the words to that old hymn to flood your mind; what can wash away my sins, what can make me whole again. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Psalms 5:12 12 Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Today’s Readings: Acts 25:1-27; Proverbs 18:19; Psalms 5
