Without Fanfare
In today’s reading we meet a man named Matthias. You may want to read this passage a few times because that’s all you get about him. We know Matthias was a true believer and may have been one of the 72 Jesus sent out as recorded in Luke 10. But after his selection as the apostle to replace Judas, we get nothing of substance. There is no fanfare about his selection and subsequent work for the Lord. What aspirations do you have for serving the Lord? Be mindful that God may select you to do great works for Him, but without fanfare. No one may ever know what you’ve done for Him. And that’s a good thing. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Acts 1:23-26 23 So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias.24 Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25 to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” 26 Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.
