Y’all Ain’t Ready
Something I say from time to time is the phrase, “y’all ain’t ready.” I got it from a song. It’s a fun way I use to introduce something special or unique. As I read this passage, I thought about my funny quip. The world appears to not be ready for Jesus Christ, yet God sent the Preparer to get everyone ready. Notice the lineage of John. Notice the faithfulness of his parents. As you study about John the Baptist, you will learn that he was a righteous man. Jesus said of him that there is no person born of a woman who is greater than John. He lived well. But his life is not the one we must follow. That example is reserved for Jesus. Over the next few weeks we will read through the book of Luke. Purpose in your heart to use this time to draw closer to Christ. Luke’s gospel is a little more detailed in the teachings of Jesus. It holds numerous parables. I encourage you to journal through this book. Ask questions, then allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you and give you the answers you seek. We are called to go and make disciples. But we can’t do that if we ain’t ready. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Luke 1:14-17 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah,to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Today’s Readings: Luke 1:1-25; Proverbs 11:8
