I Am He

Three words, five letters rendered in the NIV translation show us the divine power and grace of Jesus Christ. His response to the arresting officials telling Him they were looking for Jesus of Nazareth literally brought those men to their knees. 

As you read this account, you see Jesus stepping forward. His arrest is a display of His control. When Peter draws his sword and reacts, Jesus stops him and any retaliation immediately. Total control.

He offers you this same power and grace to you. He wants to guide your life by the power of the Holy Spirit. But there’s a catch. You cannot put your opinion and thoughts into what He’s doing. When it comes to Christ moving in your life, your opinion is completely irrelevant and worthless.

John 18:4-6

4 Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”

5 “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) 

6 When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
