I De Clare War
When I was a kid, my brothers and I used to play a card game called war. I vaguely remember how to play, but I do recall that when we laid down the same card, we had to lay down four more and say, “I De Clare War” as we put each card down. The player who had the highest card when we said “war” won the whole pile of cards. In our spiritual life, the enemy has declared war on all God’s children. Which may or may not include you. Hmmm, what does that mean? If you have not accepted what Jesus did on the cross for the forgiveness of your sin, you are not a child of God, you are a creation of God. Thus, the enemy has not declared war on you because you’re already on his team. But there is good news for those who are God’s children. He will fight this war for you by the power of the Holy Spirit which resides in you. This is what Paul told the Corinthians when he said, “the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.” When things don’t go our way we don’t panic, we pray. When things seem out of control we don’t become anxious, we practice patience. When all hope seems lost we don’t give up, we exercise faith. As a child of God, yes you are at war and will experience hardships, but because you are His, you win! Remember that! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Today’s Readings: 2 Corinthians 10; Psalm 52; Proverbs 22:26-27
