🚨Warning! This May Get Tough To Read. Proceed With Caution!🚨
Sunday Morning Christians Have you ever heard of E & C Christians? They get the name because they only go to church on Easter and Christmas. I have a hot take on this topic. I have more respect for E & C Christians than I do for Sunday Morning Christians. At least E & C Christians are not pretending to be something they are not. They may have questions about God, maybe church hurt, or other reasons why they do not regularly attend gatherings with a body of believers. Sunday Morning Christians are far worse. They go to church on Sunday morning and maybe attend a mid-week Bible study, but that is the full extent of their walk with Christ. There is no fruit in their lives. They get comfort from saying, “I go to church.” That’s far worse than an E & C Christian. People watch the daily lives of Sunday Morning Christians. They use their example to conclude what a Christian is, and worse, who Christ is. When you only attend church once or twice a week with no Bible reading or Bible living, you are the worst possible witness for Christ. Notice how the early church lived. They gathered DAILY. If you find yourself only thinking about Christ on Sunday morning and maybe during a mid-week gathering, you’re not the Christ-like example you think you are. People have died and entered an eternity separated from God because they thought they could do whatever they wanted in Christ; that’s the example they saw. The thought of that hurts my heart. When people make a conscience decision to reject God, that’s on them. But if they reject God because of my example, that hurts. A 13 year old girl once exclaimed on her podcast, “Faith is not a game.” Unfortunately, far too many American Christians think that it is and they live accordingly. Don’t be one of them! The consequences are eternal. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Acts 2:42-47 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Today’s Readings: Acts 2; Proverbs 16:19-20
