The “Power” Of Lies

As the saying goes, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” This is a sad truth even among believers. For some reason we jump on that tasty morsel called a lie, rather than chew on the bland truth. 

There are probably numerous reasons for this reality. None of them honor God. It’s likely our desire to look better than other people. We believe that putting someone else down automatically builds us up. That’s not even close to the truth. 

Take time today to spend quality time with God. Get real and ask the difficult questions. Find out if you’re one who loves gossip over truth. If you’re honest, you might surprise yourself. Then make necessary adjustments. That’s how you honor God! Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. 

Acts 6:8-11

8 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signsamong the people. 9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia—who began to argue with Stephen. 10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.

11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”
