Love and Respect

In my most recent pre-marital counseling sessions, I have begun asking the man to give his definition of love and the woman to give her definition of respect. The point is to help the other know what love or respect looks like from their spouses point of view.

In Ephesians, Paul tells husbands to love their wives and he tells wives to respect their husbands. If you do not know your spouses definition of love or respect, you may think they do not love/respect you.

Be careful when you look at others, not just a spouse, and begin “judging” how they behave. They may have a different way of expressing themselves. The key is, do they honor God in their behavior. When the answer is yes, you may be the one who must adjust. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy.
