The name Philadelphia comes from the word phileo, which is one of the four types of love we learn from the Bible. It is a “relational” type love. Like the love of a brother. Hence, the nickname The City of Brotherly Love. Jesus is encouraging this church because they have continued in the faith despite the struggle of persecution they are facing.
Are you a person who loves the Lord, you are following His command of love to God and people, but you can’t seem to catch a break? Be reminded that if God sent an encouraging word of support to the church at Philadelphia, He will encourage you as well. Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Revelation 3:8 8 I know your deeds.
