Philemon is one of four one chapter books in the New Testament. In this letter, Paul is interceding for Onesimus, who is Philemon’s slave. Notice Paul’s desire for Philemon to receive Onesimus as a brother in Christ, not as a slave.
How we interact with each other as brothers and sisters in Christ is important. Jesus said that people would know that we belonged to Him by our love for one another (John 13:35). If someone watched your life, but never spoke with you, would they know you are a child of God because of your interaction with people? Here’s today’s Bible verse. Enjoy. Philemon 8-11 8 Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, 9 yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus— 10 that I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains. 11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.
